College Soccer Prep Information
1.Research via Internet the schools in which you may be interested. Perhaps use NCAA div. I or II as criteria to sort the possibilities.
2.Check out the websites and see if you are interested. If so, get the name and address of the head coach, as well as phone and Internet addresses. Start a list that has all this information so you can use it for follow-up contacts/communications.
3.Write a letter of introduction to the head coach, and indicate your interest. Enclose resume, and give the coach an address, phone # and Internet address to reach you.
4.Things to include on a resume:
A.) Academics
1. GPA
2. Best SAT/ACT score
3. Class rank (if appropriate)
4. Academic Honors or Awards
B.) Athletics

2. Individual Awards received/ Records held
3. Role on Team (position/captain)
4. Team Awards/ Highlights of season
5. ODP experience
a. State Team
b. Regional Team
c. National Team
6. Schedule/Tournament Info.
7. Camps/Clinics attended
8. Strengths as a player
· Include both Club and High School information
5.Write a follow-up letter. If you get a response to your first letter, write back immediately and thank him for his interest. If you do not hear from the coach, continue to send letters. They are very busy in the early Fall, and sometimes they don't get serious about contacting prospective players until later in the Fall.
6.Once the coach contacts you, consider making an "official" or "unofficial visit" to the campus to get the feel of the school. Some schools feel more right than others, and meeting the coach personally gives you a chance to sell yourself to him.
